About

Metalli preziosi is the work of Tania Metalli, a nomadic artist of Etruscan/Roman origin presently based in London.

Metalli preziosi means precious metals and it plays a double meaning, referring to Tania's surname and her predilection for metallic colours.

"Some people call it art, I call it obsessive compulsive disorder.
This need to fill every surface with the signs of my obsession.
It all started a lifetime ago during a period of intense creative stimulation, fuelled by music, books and altered states of mind.
In the beginning there was a vision....a vision that I'm still trying to comprehend."

"I consider my art a mirror that reflects images from my inner world.
Through my work I'm able to explore that world and bring back pictures of symbols and of the creatures that inhabit it.
I have been painting these creatures for over twenty years now, and they have changed with time and me with them.
My first creative interest was photography and fashion. I worked as a free-lance photographer for sometimes before deciding to commit all my creative energies to drawing and painting. Until then I considered my artworks as something very personal, a kind of psychological exercise, therapeutic in some way.
I think my passion for photography and fashion is still expressed in my paintings. I just stooped taking pictures of the outside world and concentrated instead on the internal one"
